For those who think, eat and sleep tomatoes: a monthly tomato to-do list:

January

Start early season varieties like 'Early Girl' from seed, indoors in a warm sunny window

February

Prepare beds for planting

March

Shop for seedlings or starts at your local nursery

April

Plant, stake and feed new tomatoes

May

Shop for and plant mid-season tomatoes like 'Big Boy', 'Celebrity' and 'Sweet 100'

June

Begin to harvest early tomatoes. Feed, mulch and stake mid-season plants.

July

Start seeds for fall and winter crops. Try 'Champion' for best results. Mulch all plants to keep the roots cool and moist

August

Continue to harvest tomatoes. Feed and water regularly.

September

Harvest. Sun dry small Roma's and Cherry types. Can larger sauce varieties.

October

Continue to feed and water late season tomatoes.

November

Order seeds for next year's crops.

December

Dig up entire plants with green fruit, hang them upside down in the garage and harvest as tomatoes ripen.
