Responsibility Runs in the Family

Responsibility Runs in the Family

For 100 years, the same family has owned Kellogg Garden Products with the same idea:

Do right by the people who buy from us, the communities we are part of, and the ground we all grow in.

It starts with products that meet the USDA’s National Organic Program standards, and it carries through to how we source, who we partner with, and the next generation we are growing this for. You’re invited to be part of it.

Three ways we hold ourselves to it.

Proven Organic

Every product meets the USDA National Organic Program standards, verified by OMRI and California’s Organic Input Material program.

Sustainable

Since our earliest days, we have recovered organic material others treat as waste and turned it back into healthy, living soil.

Community

We back Plant With Purpose and the Environmental Media Association’s School Garden Program.

Generations of Stewardship

A hundred years in, the family whose name is on the bag still owns the company. Janice raised the third-generation owners, her son Hap and her daughter Kathy.

H. Clay "Hap" Kellogg IV

Owner, Third Generation

Hap and his sister Kathy are the third generation of their family to own Kellogg Garden Products, and Hap has always held it to the two values his grandfather and father handed down: humility and integrity. That means products that do exactly what they promise, backed by a money-back guarantee and verified organic by two independent third parties, not just a word on the bag. As he puts it, “Having a servant’s heart is a big part of our company.”

Kathy Kellogg Johnson

Owner, Third Generation

Kathy is the third-generation co-owner who built the family’s sustainability legacy, long before sustainability was fashionable. Under her, Kellogg became a founding member of the Zero Waste Business Council and a repeat winner of California’s Zero Waste Award, turning organic material others would throw away back into healthy soil. She also volunteers with Plant With Purpose, teaching rural communities around the world to garden in ways that heal the land.

Janice Kellogg

Family Matriarch

Janice married into the Kellogg family more than 60 years ago, and with that, into its legacy. She raised the third-generation owners and has spent her life protecting what the family name stands for: honesty, quality, and products that are truly what they claim to be. As she says, “This isn’t just a business. It’s our family’s name, our heritage, and the legacy we leave to our children.”
